Prem
Prem was created because of our conviction that it must be possible to produce of the Schiava variety a full worthy red wine which can compete with the Pinot Noirs of Alto Adige. The base of this was Schiava grapes of the best quality, produced in harmony with the nature and a very low yield.
In the cellars it was worked like a Pinot Noir, with the target not to produce a light and easy to drink wine, but a extraordinary Schiava with a good aging potential. The finishing was done by an addition of 15 % of barrique aged Lagrein.
The result is admirable: Exceptionally full bodied for a Schiava, but with its typical notes, its fine elegance, coloured in a deep ruby red. Prem can be paired to red meat and wild, but even to intense starters. As drinking temperature we would like to recommend 16 – 18 °C
Alto Adige Pinot Nero Riserva DOC Select
Many times Alto Adige Pinot Noirs were nominated among the best Pinot Noirs of Italy, even among the best outside Burgundy. This is because in a land so rich on different slopes and soils there are good conditions for even the most difficult varieties like the Pinot Noir. Much sun during the day, cool nights, a good aeration, high attention at the yield control and at the management of the microclimate in the vineyard: These are the prepositions for the production of a good Pinot Noir, and they are the “secret” also for our Blauburgunder “Select”. An elegant vanilla note due to a one year maturation in French barriques complete the drinking pleasure of this wine.
The Blauburgunder Select is perfectly paired with red meat, game and strong cheese. It should be drunk at a temperature of 18 – 20 °C. 5 years of extra-aging in the bottle don’t hurt at all, good vintages have even a much higher aging potential.
Alto Adige Lagrein Grieser Riserva DOC Select
Behind Appiano and Caldaro, Bolzano is the third largest wine-growing municipality of Alto Adige. Two typical wines of this city count to the summit of South Tyrolean wine production without doubt: the St. Magdalener and the Lagrein, where especially this last one had a great echo in the world of wine related media.
The warm climate of the Bolzano basin, the deep sedimental soils, much work and passion in the vineyards bail for the success in the production of a full bodied, dark red wine, with an admirable aroma of violets, chocolate, liquorice, berries and – after some years – also of tobacco. The maturation of our “Select” in French barriques underlines this fruity character and the – due to very smooth tannins – velvety taste. We are very careful not to have the wooden notes in the first line, but let always the wine express its full character. The “Select” is recommendable with game and spicy meat dishes, as well as with aged and strong cheese. Lagrein has a good aging potential, at least 5 or 6 years, good vintages even more. The best serving temperature is about 18 – 20 °C.
Alto Adige Cabernet Riserva DOC Select
Cabernet is one of the most famous varieties of the world. In South Tyrol it was introduced approximately 160 years ago, and the beds of our valleys are very suitable for this variety.
Our Cabernet “Select” grows in Branzoll, 10 km south of Bolzano. This 35 year old vineyard is composed by 50 % of Cabernet Sauvignon and 50 % of Cabernet Franc. This makes our “Select” maybe a bit more difficult to understand than many of it’s brothers of the New World, but also very interesting and characteristic.
The dark garnet colour, the fine aroma, slightly of currants and wild wine, surrounded by a light vanilla taste because of a year in French barriques as the full and velvety body make this wine to be an experience not only for Cabernet-fans.
It’s very good with spicy dishes, such as grilled or roasted red meat, game or strong cheese. As service temperature we would recommend 18 – 20 °C, the aging potential is about 5 – 6 years, good vintages also longer.
